Effective Twitter Page Building

Leveraging your presence on Twitter to enhance your business prospects also requires that you make the most of your Twitter page. Using the right tools and techniques, with a dash of ingenuity of course, you can build up a Twitter profile page which alone can go a long way towards promoting your business, even before you begin to send out that Tweet you have been longing to dash out…

Small businesses can actually benefit immensely, using a platform such as Twitter. Having said that, effective design of your Twitter profile page can further enhance your overall appeal among your followers as well as get more of your existing and prospective customers to become your followers on Twitter in the first place.

As far as your own bio is concerned, remember that Twitter allows only 160 characters for that (on Twitter, it’s all short and simple!), so remember that every word you use counts. Within just a few words, try to convey the raison d’être of your business. Ideally, you could have your business name along with your business credo (or a shortened version of it, in case it is longer than the stipulated character limit) in your Twitter bio.

Just as important is the Twitter page background, which can be tweaked around a bit, albeit in limited fashion. While you cannot have hyperlinks there, what you can have is your company logo, which all your followers and other visitors to your Twitter page can easily identify with you. In case you are not very adept at developing and tweaking Twitter backgrounds yourself, you could consider taking help from sites such as TweetPlate or TweetBacks, which offer free customizable Twitter backgrounds, along with more personalized designs that won’t dig a hole in your pocket either!

Consider selecting a design that has a direct connect and association with your business, especially if the primary idea behind setting up your Twitter profile is to promote your business. For instance, if you are a pet food retailer, why not consider having the image of a cute pup in the background? Not only will the appeal of such a page be high amongst your followers and visitors, they will also perceive a direct and instant visual connect with your business.

As a small business owner, it would be extremely useful to have your contact details enlisted on your Twitter profile page. Again, while your email ID there may not be hyperlinked, it will still provide all your followers and profile visitors with the vital piece of contact information that they need, in case they would like to write to you directly in greater detail (than a Tweet!).

Now, having set up your Twitter page profile in the best possible manner, you need to get down to doing what you are here for, i.e. Tweeting! Remember that Twitter provides an excellent platform for you as a small business owner to connect directly with customers. You can tell them about products and services that you have launched, as well as ask them about their opinion about your proffering and suggestions on how you could improve.

So Tweet often and remember to engage with your audience; nobody wants or even expects a reticent Tweeter, if you are so, then you have no business to be on Twitter in the first place!
