Retaining your business coaching clients

With business coaches increasing in number with each passing day, it is imperative that all business coaches take sufficient steps to ensure that their mentees remain with them and do not drift on to other business coaches. Neither do you want them to give up on business coaching altogether. In this post, we look at ways in which you can keep your clientele excited about all that you have to offer and also prevent them from being in any way disheartened or disillusioned with the very concept of executive coaching.

Offer viable and effective solutions to problems

Remember that as a business coach, clients come to you with problems, with the expectation that you will be able to resolve them with ease. Therefore, it is imperative that you do not disappoint them. In fact, each time, you must be able to proffer concrete yet viable solutions to the problems that they may be facing in their business. The viability aspect is crucial; for instance, you cannot advise a small business to splurge on marketing when its overall revenues are themselves very limited.

Proffer real life examples and anecdotes

Your mentees must be able to relate to the examples that you quote; not only should they NOT be hypothetical ones, they should also be in sync with the profile of your mentees. For instance, if your mentees largely comprise of small business owners, then you do not want to give them examples of big businesses which they simply would not be able to relate to. Therefore, in summation, make sure that you provide relevant and topical examples which mentees will easily be able to relate to and also will look towards incorporating in their own professional life.

Have your own distinct USP

If you begin to resemble or sound and seem like any of the other business coaches with a lot of glib talk, then your mentees might soon be disillusioned with you, or perhaps with business coaching as a whole. That is the reason, you should make every possible attempt to try and have your own USP; it could possibly be your style – the way you speak or even the distinct examples and solutions that you proffer – which none of the other business coaches seem to have a clue about; it is these things which will help you stand out from the crowd.
