Deciding whether to go single handed as a business coach, or to have a team…

The decision to go solitary as a business coach or to have a team, a support staff is a rather personal decision, based on various factors. In this post, we will look at some of those factors, which will help you determine whether or not you should go singlehandedly in your business coaching pursuits or have suitable accomplices in tow.

Firstly, you need to look at the level that you are on; perhaps you are just starting off as a business coach with no real income to showcase as such, out of your venture. At the same time, this is pretty much the stage at which you need to establish yourself with a bang…you need that website, you need that blog, you need those articles, you need videos talking about you, you probably also need an eBook that you would be giving away free of charge on your website…the list is virtually endless!

But wait! You can actually hire external entities, on a contractual, freelance basis, for all these tasks, without having to hire anyone full time. Simply contract these people out for the said tasks and lo and behold, your job will be done!

At the same time, once your business grows and you have a veritable range and number of clientele in hand, you really need to have a physical infrastructure and an office space in place, assuming that you have not had one so far and have largely been operating in either a virtual environment solely or making do with a home office. Agreed that a home office may suffice even as you begin to have your first set of clients, over time, as the clientele grows in number, you will find your own conviction among mentees, growing manifold, once you do have a professional office in place.

Further, as business grows and the word about your coaching skills spreads, you will definitely need a person to manage the phone calls and emails on your behalf, as you are quite unlikely to manage all of that, all by yourself. It will anyway not be the best way to utilize your time.

Thus, overall, as you can clearly see, the decision to go singlehandedly in your coaching endeavors or to have suitable support along the way, largely depends on the factors at hand, such as the stage of coaching that you are at. In fact, if you have a life partner who would be able to mirror your professional image with aplomb, then the same could well be the perfect person to be in tow with you, as far as business coaching is concerned.
